Once again, it is Saturday. We are experiencing the COVID-19 pandemic and it seems that days, weeks and months are flying by. My routine on workdays has not changed at all. I work five 2-hour blocks with most intermissions of about 15 minutes. The intermission for lunch is about an hour. Actual lunch takes about 20 minutes, but my wife and I sit down with a cup of espresso and chat for about 20 more minutes. When done we do the dishes and I go down to my home office.
It is already summer 2020 and some people are saying that it does not seem that summer is here yet. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic the transition from spring to summer did not materialize. To me the big thing is that when summer starts days start getting shorter. Living in a suburb of the Twin Cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul we understand what short days in winter feel like.
As you know I am a promoter of never stop learning. A few post back I suggested a project on the Travel Planner System post in this blog. I thought that I listed the technologies that I will be using so I can refresh and catch up with new features before starting the design and implementation phases. I went back to the post and determined that there is no table. Continue reading “React or Angular”
Finally summer 2020 has arrived. Today’s high is in the lower to mid 70s. Currently the sky is overcast. My wife and I prefer it sunny but the temperature is fine with me. My wife prefers hot and humid weather. Not everyone likes chocolate. We will probably keep the windows open all day. Living in Minnesota with long and cold winters, fresh air is always welcomed.
Yesterday we spoke over Jitsi with a couple of friends we both know since our teens. We have traveled abroad on several occasions with and without family. We were going to chat last Sunday (Father’s Day) but due to our schedules we postponed it until Monday. We found out that both have been diagnosed with COVID-19 and are being treated as we speak. Their daughter, who lives with them, has not contracted the virus yet. They both looked tired so we limited our call to 20 minutes. Typically we go for a couple hours. Hopefully all will go well and they will have a short recovery! Continue reading “Visual Studio Code Install on Linux”
It is another Saturday in the Twin Cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul. Last night I changed the alarm to wake up at 05:15 AM. That said I was up around 05:00 AM. My wife and her friend want to get an early start shopping. They should be back around 11:00 AM. They both took masks, gloves and umbrellas. The forecast does not call for rain in this area, but around the time they were leaving there were some spotty dark clouds.
The latest and greatest on liberals is to allow defilement of statues of Christopher Columbus around the country. Not sure what is the point and more important what will change with such actions. Continue reading “Added new CLI to the iCAS”
Hope you are doing well. In the Twin Cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul things appear to have gone back to normal. As far as I know looting and riots have stopped. There are talks about disbanding the Minneapolis police department. Not sure what liberals are thinking. No matter where you live, social rules and laws have to be enforced so people will follow them. The approach may vary, but force needs to be present. Hopefully it is there just as a deterrent.
Talks about the terrible things happening in many police departments in different liberal cities are being blamed on the current conservative federal government. Please note that in the past 50 years the USA has been under conservative and liberal leaders. If there is blame on what triggered the last wave of looting and riots in several cities in the USA, it needs to be done using established laws. First, the involved police officers should have been put in administrative leave (not fired). Second there should be a trial in which all evidence is presented and discussed. Then the jury should come up with a verdict. If the process is fouled, then the issue should be elevated to the next court. Eventually, if not resolved to the satisfaction of all parties involved, it would reach the Supreme Court. After a decision is made at the highest legal level, people responsible at all levels (i.e., judges, lawyers, union members, politicians, and police officers) should be held accountable and sent to prison if they have done something considered unlawful. Accountability will induce changes which will make groups like “Black Lives Matter” obsolete. Looting and riots do not help the cause of black people. It only aggravates it. Not only that, but the people that lives in the areas that were looted and burned down, now will experience higher prices in stores and shops and will have to travel longer distances to get their shopping done. Thanks looters and rioters! Continue reading “Typing Speed”
